Clearview Softball Review 2010
posted: Jun 16th, 2010
It was another great year of softball at Clearview. Both the men's team (10-1) and the coed team (12-2) brought home 1st place finishes. It was even more exciting to see new players out on the field and new fans in the stands. I think we exceeded our four goals this year: FUN, FELLOWSHIP, COMPETITION, and CHARACTER.
On June 20th we will recognize both team's during our morning service. Also this weekend, the men's team will be competing against 16 other church teams from around the state. Please pray for us as we travel to Gainesville, GA this friday and saturday. Just for fun you will see the final CCHLB below. Thanks for a wonderful season!

This is the last week of the season and both teams are leading their respective divisions. Come out and cheer on your team as they seek to come home with a big shiny plastic trophy :) You could be a part of history! Just think, 25 years from now you can say, "I was there when the Clearview Chapel Coed Church Softball Team clinched their division in 2010!"

Clearview Players and Fans,
Once again let me start out by saying thank you to all our wonderful fans!
MEN'S (5-1) RECAP: The Men's team continued to dominate the competition. This past week our Christian brothers from St. Peter's and Baptist Tabernacle felt the wrath of the Clearview offense (please don't take any of this junk seriously). Hopefully, the guys will come ready to play against First Baptist this Tuesday.
COED (5-0) RECAP: The coed team seems unstoppable. We have a great combination of players that leads to the ultimate when it comes to fun, fellowship, competition and character. This past week they beat CMBC.

COED: Cockrell, J (3), Taylor (2), Metcalf (1)
UPCOMING GAMES:
MENS - Tues 11th Vs. First Baptist 8:00pm field #5
COED - Tues 11th Vs. First United Methodist 9:00pm field #5 / Thurs 13th Vs. Smith Chapel 9:00pm field #5 (This was changed from the original schedule)
***DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: The 1962 Mets were the laughing stock of MLB. They lost 120 games that year and only won 40. Part of their problem was basic communication. There shortstop spoke Spanish and their centerfielder spoke English. After multiple close encounters during short fly balls, the center fielder learned to say, "I got it" in Spanish. The next time time a lazy fly ball was hit to shallow left-center, the centerfielder rushed in shouting, "Yo la tengo!" The shortstop immediately recognized what he was saying and backed off. The centerfielder was camped under the ball ready to squeeze it when the left fielder (born in Pittsburgh, as in, no habla espanol) also rushed in and ran over the centerfielder.
When our words fail us, are we able to communicate the love of God with our lives? "I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." 1 Cor 9:22

Players & Fans,
It was a great year for Clearview Softball. We had 22 coed players and 17 men's players. Both teams finished 2nd place in their league. The trophies will be on display at a location TBA.
I think both teams did a great job at accomplishing our four fold mission of: Fun, Fellowship, Competition & Character.
Fans thanks for coming out and cheering on the teams. You are loved and appreciated!
